perpetuallyephemeral:

Guys.
When I was at college and not vegan this was a typical breakfast at the dining hall.
I do not know why but it makes me laugh.
I would have a box of cookies at two in the morning with my friends and an entire bag of pretzels a day on top of my regular meals and snacks and two ice cream sandwiches at night with a later Sbarros run. I once had so much chocolate and iced tea my body went into shock and I couldn’t stand up because of the pain. I would have chocolate pancakes covered in chocolate syrup for breakfast. I ate my salads with more blue cheese dressing than actual salad. I had never worked out a day in my life and I ate plates of spaghetti as large as my head followed by three cookies and ice cream. I had literally no idea what a calorie was (clearly I received quality secondary education).
Anyway, this is just me reminiscing about a simpler time. Bodies regulate themselves. Truly. It makes me angry when I see magazines advertising “two egg whites and a piece of toast” as a suitable breakfast for someone. It pisses me off how I could eat like the above and have it be acceptable or even admirable but if someone sixty pounds heavier ate like this they would be demonized. No way in hell is that thinking alright. The food on your plate does not dictate your worth. Nor does the amount or type of exercise you do. Nor your general visage and/or appearance.
I realize this topic has been beaten to death but as a person who still battles this shit daily, I am ranting. Sorry. And the obligatory: Eat vegan for the planet and animals. Eat foods that make you feel good (physically and mentally) and what helps your body function well. But eat whatever else you want, in whatever quantities you want and never feel like it isn’t right (because it is and you are, always, without question, inherently).
